Hi all,
My first post here.
I would like to know how to get Ampps to work when installed on a drive other than the "C" drive.

1- I installed it on "C" to start with but then realized that I don't have that much space on it.

2- I noticed that when it runs, I see the following on the opening screen:

C:/Ampps
Apache Started

3- Un-installed it from "C" and installed it on a different drive.
4- Now when Ampps starts, I get the following on the opening screen:
C:/WINDOWS/system32

Also, when I click on the "Home" icon, it cannot connect to the local server

It's as if it does not know where it is installed.
So, my question is: Is it possible to get Ampps to work when installed on a drive other than the "C" drive.

Thanks.

Hi,

Where you have installed AMPPS exactly? Can you paste the Ampps installation path here?

It seems that you have installed Ampps in "C:/WINDOWS/system32 ".

Hi,
I have a drive called "G".
As I mentioned previously, this is a different drive than "C".
I can also see the Ampps folder on "G".

Hi,
I have a drive called "G".
As I mentioned previously, this is a different drive than "C".
I can also see the Ampps folder on "G".

Right click on Ampps\Ampps.exe folder. And check its properties. Please confirm the path. It can be a shortcut or symlink.

Also can you open a ticket by mailing the issue at support@ampps.com. We will look into it.

Guys,
Honestly, I installed the software on a drive other than "C".
During the installation process, I removed the installation path (c:\program files\Ampps) and changed it to G:\Ampps

Nevertheless, the properties of the Ampps folder is as follows (Location G:\)
The properties of the Ampps.exe file is as follows (Location G:\Ampps).

So, here is an update:
1- Decided to try and start Ampps while writing this answer.
2- It opened up and to my surprise it showed the correct info:
G:/Ampps (Please note the " / ")
Apache Started.

3- On the other hand, I'm seeing the "MySQL" start button lit up.
4- I click on the start button under "MySQL", it does not seem to start since the "Start" button remains lit.
5- I click on the "Home" button and my browser comes up and I'm taken to localhost/ampps/ and can see all the icons.
6- Clicking on the "Ampps Admin" button takes me to the correct page.
7- The same goes for the "Local Web" button.

So, apparently, everything seems to be working except for "MySQL" as mentioned in "4" above.

Any thoughts?
Thanks.

Hi,

Check MySQL Logs in MySQL Tab of AMPPS Application. Paste last few contents here.

Hi,

In command prompt run the following command :

Code
netstat -aon | findstr 0.0:3306

Let me know the output.

Also check for mysqld.exe in task manager(click on "show all process" below too for whole list). End the process if it is present.

Then try starting MySQL server from AMPPS.

Yep, it belonged to PID 1412 (MySQL) under "Services" in "Task Manager".
Stopped the service and restarted Ampps, MySQL started on its own.
Everything is running as it should.

Thanks for your help, really appreciate it.
